On March 4th, Marine Life Sanctuaries Society held an Evening for Howe Sound Gala at the beautiful Lions Bay home of Ruth Simons. The evening was a great success and we raised $ 11,500 towards the protection of marine life of Howe Sound!
Supporters from all over the Lower Mainland and Sea-to-Sky region attended to help raise funds for MLSS’ education programs and research projects. Rebecca Blair
serenaded us throughout the evening with her exquisite Celtic harp performance. Guest speakers had the opportunity to share the story of how and why MLSS was formed and to share a bit about projects that we are currently undertaking.
The evening was sponsored by four very generous supporters, to whom we are very grateful:
Dale Falconer & Thyra McKilligan

Re/Max Realty
Claudette Agostini & Keith Maynard
Howe Sound Marine
Throughout the evening a silent auction was underway for some phenomenal pieces of art, books, experiences and more! The highlight of the evening was our live auction, where our M/C, David Perry, auctioned off some once-in-a-lifetime trips and tours. We owe a big thank you to the generous organizations, companies and individuals who donated such amazing auction items to our event. Thank you to all!

It was a wonderful evening with good food and drink, made all the better by the guests in attendance. We are so fortunate to have such empowered supporters who care deeply about Howe Sound and want to help protect it for future generations. With the funds raised from this event, MLSS will be able to continue our efforts to protect and educate the public about the marine life in Howe Sound.
This event would not have been possible without the assistance of Ruth Simons, our MLSS Board of Directors and volunteers; and, the wonderful bartenders for the evening, Neil and Laura.
