On Saturday June 22, 2013 MLSS held our popular Beach Interpretation Program (BIP) again this year at the Mount Gardner public dock on Bowen Island.  This was our second BIP of the year and the 7th year this program has taken place at Bowen. It was a great day had by all with about 100 enthusiastic members from the community coming out to learn about the marine life at their local beaches.  Thank you to the RBC Blue Water Project for providing the grant money to support this program and to all of our wonderful volunteers who helped out both underwater and onshore!

The Marine Life Sanctuaries Society uses our Beach Interpretation Program to engage local communities and increase awareness of our local marine environments. Once engaged, communities feel a much stronger connection to marine life and are more inclined to care about protecting it. We encourage people to join  us in our effort to educate and work towards creating marine sanctuaries throughout all of British Columbia.

Don’t miss out on this great program, stay tuned to our events page for information on a BIP near you!
