Parks Canada & MLSS team up for BIO BLITZ!

Don’t miss out on learning about the marine life that lives around our beaches, come out to our next Beach Interpretation at Fort Rodd Hill, Victoria!

The Marine Life Sanctuaries Society is teaming up with Parks Canada to put on a Beach Interpreation Program as part of Parks Canada BioBlitz 2015 (See Flyer). Two 24-hr Bio Blitz events have been organized this year as part of a global snapshot of biodiversity for National Geographic’s Great Nature Project. The first event begins on International Biodiversity Day: Friday, May 22 at 16:00 at the Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site, a 20-minute drive outside of Victoria (www.pc.gc.ca/fortroddhill). Feel free to invite others via our facebook page

The second 24-hr Bio Blitz will begin Friday July 18 at 16:00 at the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve (GINPR) on Saturna Island (http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/bc/gulf/index.aspx).

Parks Canada is providing FREE camping at both locations for volunteers but REGISTRATION for these events is required: See Parks Canada poster for registration details. Once registered, Parks Canada will provide a Participant Registration Package with information on the daily schedules, public programming, participation, camping, safety, and a BioBlitz Volunteer Agreement.

All of our programs are run entirely by volunteers. To support our Beach Interpretations and other MLSS programs please donate!
