Volunteer Diver

If you are a diver comfortable the cold BC waters and have a passion for using your skills to advance marine conservation efforts, we would love to hear from you!

Led by highly qualified and skilled MLSS dive leaders, you will help us gather wild marine life for temporary display during our Beach Interpretation Programs (BIPs). We conduct these events at various sites around beautiful BC such as:

Porteau Cove Provincial Park
Bowen Island – Mount Gardner Road dock
Whytecliff Park
… and more!

After the temporary display of marine life to the public and other audiences as supervised by our Beach Interpretive Guides, you will be responsible for returning the marine life back to their ocean habitats in a timely fashion to negate any unnecessary stress on them.

As a volunteer diver for MLSS, you will also support our Rockfish/Young of the Year and Lingcod Egg Mass monitoring programs! During these programs you will conduct citizen science surveys on abundance, age class, and habitat usage, providing critical data on these ecologically important species.
